This is one of my favourite Vietnamese dishes - Caramelised Pork Belly with Egg. It's so tender and flavoursome. This one's from Little NNQ on Gouger Street, a restaurant street near Chinatown packed with Asian restaurants.

The three pinots - Henschke, Kooyong Wines and Felton Road NZ. Each to their own but Felton Road was our favourite pick with a fuller bodied wine and lovely cinnamon spice.

Coal Cellar and Grill at the Adelaide Hilton has launched their winter series. The month of June brings you Pork & Pinot with 3 pork dishes and 3 pinot noir wines to choose from. We were invited to the media launch to see what's in store for Adelaide.

In a way but not quite. There were "cheese platters" set out across the table along with pizza topping ingredients for us to nibble on and make our own pizza. ;-)
Red Cacao up in Stirling, Adelaide Hills is one of the most amazing chocolatiers I have had met. So much passion in what he does and always innovating. On Friday nights they do special dessert nights where the menu changes seasonally. This is a "Macaron in a Flower Pot" with chocolate mousse, honeycomb, chocolate dirt mint and a couple of surprises. What a delight!!
Attempted this St Louis Ice Cream house Churros Feast of 15 churros, ice cream, strawberries and marshmallows with just 3 of us. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ So good but sooooo full we rolled out of there.

While a restaurant name like Fish Head can be offputting don't let it stop you. Fish Head restaurant serves up delicious meals and there's only one dish that has fish head and even that's optional. Cuisine here is of the Indo/Malay/South Indian influence.

This is their twice cooked duck leg which is so tender and full of flavour.

I for one am a fan of Middle Eastern food, mostly for their flatbreads, grilled kebabs and pilau rice. There's plenty of places in Adelaide to choose from if you know where to look. Best part is they are very friendly on your bank account.

My personal favourite is Lawash on South Road. This is their succulent beautifully marinated flavoursome grilled half chicken.

GUEST QUESTION
For a foodie, how would you map out a visit to Adelaide? (Like the must try food spots, eateries, food street)-any 3-4
The short answer is Peel Street/Leigh Street. If you're short on time these two lanes in the CBD are lined with cafes bars and restaurants with a great mix of everything from Asian, burgers, tapas, Serbian, modern Aussie and fusion. The bar and cocktail scene is πŸ‘Œ. My top picks there - Bread & Bone, Kaffana, Peel St Restaurant, Udaberri, Rigoni's, Pink Moon Salon.

The longer answer - pop over to Central Market area to try all sorts of food and cheap eats. As a tourist day make a trip to Barossa or McLaren Vale for beautiful landscape and wines (and awesome cheese & meat platters) and head up to Hahndorf for a German experience (good food included). 😊

One of my favourite brunch places is Karma & Crow. The food is interesting and a little different from the typical eggs and bacon. The menu changes seasonally so there's always something new to try.

No. 1 - Burger Republic

Lo and behold the top spot goes to these guys.
I am so glad this place is closer to my end of the world and is an awesome burger joint that serves some great craft beers too! Biting into this cheeseburger I was wowed by the flavour. Serving up a charred patty cooked to perfection that was mouthwatering while keeping a pink and juicy center. The pickles, mustard and tomato were all in good balance. Got nice sweet and sour hits through the meaty taste. The bun was so soft with a shiny glaze, a great platform to wrap my hands around. Overall the cheeseburger was well balanced but the beef flavour in the patty was the best. Splitting hairs with number 2 this came on top because it had that smokey chargrill flavour and the beef patty shone through more.

That concludes my Top 5 Cheeseburgers in Adelaide. To see the other 4 that made the list scroll up. I'd love to know what your favourite burger places are 😊

No. 2 - Bread and Bone
Sitting at No. 2 is a trendy bar on a trendy street in the heart of Adelaide. Most would argue this is the best burger in Adelaide though as good and amazing as it is, I give it the no. 2 spot. It's pretty much faultless with the perfectly seasoned and cooked patty, finely minced, juicy, little pink in the middle. Soft brioche bun with the perfect ratio of beef to melted cheese. They do a pretty mean soft shell crab burger here too.

Stay tuned for no. 1 and I shall explain why this is no. 2.
No. 3 - The Taxpayer
This is a casual bar with the friendliest staff which makes for a pretty awesome after work catch up spot. Their burgers have a nice chargrill taste to it and as usual medium is the best way to have the patties. While the cheeseburgers are awesome they do some pretty good chicken, pork and mushroom burgers too. Also get some Jalapeno poppers while waiting for your burger!
  • πŸ” 1
No. 4 - Nordburger
Coming in at number 4 best cheeseburger is Nordburger. Modelled on the fuss free American diner style their burgers are delish. Good smashed patty, soft sesame bun, a healthy dose of tomato sauce and a slice of pickle. Only setback is they're a bit heavy on the salt. However some might argue that's easily resolved by drinking one of their amazing shakes.

Good morning! I'm kicking off this week with a "Ling's Top 5" series of the world favourite - Cheeseburgers! Let's see how good the Adelaode food scene can get.

No. 5 - Burger Theory
These guys started out as a food truck with the longest queue and eventually found a place to settle down. It's a no nonsense, simple menu (3 types of burgers) fast service kind of place. The patty is well seasoned, the beef is finely minced and it is juicy. It comes with some nice pickle slices and a good amount of fully melted cheese. The truck? It's still roaming at festivals every now and then.

Hey Mama! Get yourself some Africanesque deliciousness at Mama Jambo on Eliza Street. This is their big breakfast with poached eggs, sausage, slow roasted tomatoes and African "baked beans".

This place is also a music and art venue so keep an eye out for music and exhibition nights!

It's Mother's Day in Australia (and Malaysia) today so high tea restaurants are fully booked. It's always a special kind of occasion. This one is at Stamford Grand Promenade restaurant where you literally look out onto the most beautiful beach, Glenelg.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!πŸ’

What is your favorite spot for dessert in Adelaide?
Steven Ter Horst is my go to dessert place, an amazing chocolatier with delicious delicate desserts. For other desserts I love Eggless Cafe which also offers vegan desserts. All their desserts are as per name - eggless and amazingly still so delicious.

This was a super amazingly delicious Brisket Burger with slaw on toasted brioche bun. Every bite was juicy and full of flavour without overpowering the tender slow-BBQ'd smokey brisket. 5 stars from me!

We went to a BBQ place and ordered up big time! Sneaky Pickle does the traditional American BBQ with everything from wings to brisket done in smoker. Starting off light with fried pickles! Stay tuned for more BBQ goodness
Check out this little guy chilling in the park! It's not that often we spot a wild koala but it's not unusual either. This Koala was taking his afternoon nap, they sleep about 18 hours a day and love eucalyptus leaves.

When the sun is out, THIS is what South Australia is best known for. The wine. This was taken at Longview in Adelaide Hills. If you love wine we have 4 regions with multiple vineyards and cellar doors from large commercial production to boutique wineries.

Wine tasting all of them alone can take you many days. 🍷

Some people like desserts, some like cheese. I like both but cheese takes the crown today. This is a baked B.d. Farm Paris Creek Camembert with Honey and Thyme. Chewy skin and all creamy gooey inside. Had some beautiful sourdough bread for dipping.

Only one day left for Tasting Australia. Today I did the Grazing Trail on Rundle Mall. Start at the pop up Urban Pantry to sample great South Australian produce and wines then grab your free bag and go on the trail along Rundle Mall.

There are 10 stops altogether and each offer samples and treats like chocolates, coffee, wine, cheeses, nuts and even a vegan taco!

Introducing The Flying Fig deli in North Adelaide. The first New York style Jewish deli in Adelaide serving the classics. This is a house-cured pastrami sandwich on rye.

They make almost everything in house, pastrami, lox, pickles, spreads and all. Not familiar with Jewish deli food? Don't worry the menu has a glossary. ☺
