Paradise.
With little struggle and few hours you can reach Koh Chang and its arcipelago of amazing island for the next set of activities. Even if thailand is similar to Koh Rong in Cambodia, but a little less wild these days.
Fun fact, China has both rights over Koh Rong for the next 100 years to make it the next Ibiza of Asia. Enjoy it until it last 馃槺

Fantastico
When you are too tired from the city is probably time to leave Siem Reap to recover on some island and swim a bit. Say bye to your hostel (we were staying at Lovely Hostel, really lovely) and pick a cab to the boarder with Thailand.

I know that Angkor Wat is a dream destination for everyone, but that is nowadays the problem. From the last time six years the situation has completely degenerated.
Try to rent a bike and lose yourself in the surroundings trying to avoid the people. One day, max.

That's a lovely picture !!
The second one is way more remote, a little less floating, but with an amazing mangroves forest to explore

You can head south to the floating villages on the salty lake in the middle of the country. There are two main at the moment. The first one is more scenic but at this point has become very commercial attraction.

When the jungle becomes to much, siem reap is the basecamp for the following adventures and if you are tired of pub street, there is plenty of lovely location to party at night. Reggea Bar, The Republic and many more

In the village where we were living there is also a bar, called Snake Bar, because that is usually the place where people get beaten by snakes. From time to time. I really liked it.

Phon Kulen is on top of a flat mountain, not very high, so you can get nice views on the surrounding valleys and forests

You can explore the jungle keeping in mind the snakes and spiders. Unfortunately, with the war all the fauna of the Cambodian jungles has disappeared.

Two hours north of Siem Reap is located the remote national park of Phon Kulen. You require special passes to go there, but luckily we had friends working there. U can still do mini tour of the surroundings without it that are completely worthy.
Here during a pit stop on the way.

Siem Reap is exploded in the last years, reaching almost 200k population. Pub Street has changed a lot since the last time I was here. Strangely, in better.
Choose your tuktuk bar carefully, it is forever.

Coming from Europe to Cambodia there is little way to escape at least a night in Bangkok.
The funniest is to abandon yourself to moto taxi rushing from Khao San to RCA keeping in mind that most clubs close around 2am.
Suggestions: The Cliff, Narcissus.
Avoid: Siam area and Sathon et similar

We promote a different type of journey made of wild destinations away from touristy situation, focusing on the experience with the reality and not as a travel. This is an itinerary for some less than ten days in west Cambodia.
