Here's a map of all the Czech roads in 2017 that require drivers to have a valid vignette. ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ

What's vignette? ๐Ÿค”

Some countries, like Switzerland, Austria or Czechia in this case, require that car owners pay a fee to drive on certain roads.

Make sure you don't forget to buy one if you travel through the country, like we did recently. You'll get to drive on smooth and modern roads, and won't have to pay high penalties. You can buy vigniettes at most petrol stations in Czechia and near its borders.

Split is packed with tourists who want to drink, party and have fun. There were plenty of stalls selling mojitos and other alcoholic beverage - cheaper than water and more variety than I've ever seen. ๐Ÿบ Sadly the coffee was very average ๐Ÿ˜ž but they offer sophisticated cocktails and you can request your own.

โœˆ๏ธ We flew from Warsaw to Split in Croatia. There is low-cost airline (Wizz air) that will take you there directly. Unfortunately, during the summer season, the prices are not low, but it is still affordable and a big plus for the destination. ๐Ÿ‘ Let's speak a bit more about Split. We liked it so so. We've noticed that the dominant colors of the city are grey and light brown. It lacked positive energy. It was dark and dull with very narrow streets. Fortunately, we didn't stay long as we moved forward to Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina. ๐ŸšŒ

๐Ÿท They say Mikulov is a wine paradise, and it looks like you can try local produce in many wineries. The choice is impressive as for the city that has less than 10,000 citizens. We do not recommend to check them all, but if you would like to try the local wine before buying some bottles, visiting one or two places can be a good thing.

In Mikulov, our Airbnb host Pavla was very helpful. We had a problem with car suspension, and she helped us fix it. At the same time, her place was comfortable and lovely, so if you are planning to visit Mikulov, we will be more than happy to share a link to her apartment. ๐Ÿ’š Good people are everywhere, so you will never be alone even if traveling solo. ๐Ÿ˜Š

๐Ÿ›ซ Just before departing to Split we tried the coffee at the airport. I know, risky move, but it wasn't so bad after all. โ˜• In fact, they have even soy latte! My mom had a white mocha with whipped cream, and she rates it as strong 4/5. My soy latte was rather weak 2/5 since it was cold and the milk was too fluffy. Both coffees were too expensive (the beauty of airports), price: 5,5 $ โœˆ๏ธ

โ˜•We started our search of the best coffee in WakeUp Cafe a little bit outside the Old Town of Warsaw. I ordered cafe Americano with whipped cream. To be honest, the coffee was rather average. It was way too sour (it was definitely the coffee, not the whipped cream). My mom, on the other hand, liked hers. She had a cup of coconut latte with whipped cream and a dash of coconut flakes on top. It was a perfect coffee for the afternoon, don't expect that it will wake you up in the morning. Even if my coffee wasn't my favorite, I liked the place. It has super fast internet, sockets available to charge your phone/laptop and nice staff. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘

๐Ÿ“ท Taking pictures of local restaurants and artwork is not allowed in Warsaw without asking for permission. The lady who was selling her pictures got really angry when I took a snapshot of her artwork. She was screaming really loudly: "Maybe I will start taking pictures of you when you're at work!" ๐Ÿ˜ก Well, while I do understand get point, she could have said it in a nicer way...

Hi Agness and Cez,
I read about your blog about Prague and it is definately helpful. But was curious and had a few questions and thought it would be good to ask here,
1. Is it a good time to visit Prague in the month of May/June ?
2. Is it advisable to visit Prague during the festivals ? I am excited about the folklore festival which happens in July.
3. How much would it approximately cost us for a day where we have Food + beer, sightseeing ! This will be more of a backpacking trip.
4. Rent a bicycle and explore the city or walk and use public transport ?
5. Where would I find some great vintage stuff to shop ?

Thanks a ton already !!
Hi Rucha. Thanks for your questions. It's awesome you are going to Prague. I have been there many times, but never during the festivals, and always had a great time and memorable moments. Here are the answers to your questions: 1) May is beautiful in Prague, everything comes alive and you will definitely avoid many tourists who visit the city mainly between late June and early September. 2) Can't say much here but I bet yes. If you love festivals, why not experience one in Prague? 3) if you avoid dining out in city center areas, you can spend around 8 euros per meals/day, accommodation is around 8-15 euro, transportation should not cost you more than 3 euro per day. Beer is surprisingly cheap, less than 1 euro per pint so you can have a lot of it and still spend less than 20-30 euro per day. 4) Bike is always a great idea and we cycle a lot when visiting different cities. It's affordable in Prague, around 6 euro per day and you can cycle everywhere. 5) In the Old Town for sure, but it might be expensive. Try to google it.

๐Ÿš— ๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡น Driving on motorways in Austria requires a Highway Toll Sticker (vignette). It must be stuck to your windshield to be valid. Just like the sticker for Switzerland you can buy it in neighboring countries at the petrol station, post office, etc. Depending on how long you plan to stay in Austria is a lot cheaper or a lot more expensive than the one for Switzerland (8.90โ‚ฌ for two weeks, 25.90โ‚ฌ for two months, 86.40โ‚ฌ for 12 months).

We loved Vienna, but we wouldn't like to live there. The buildings give the impression of luxury and elegance. It just feels too serious and sophisticated. It's perfect for a short, touristic visit, the city is alive and busy, but for long term stay is just not for us.

๐Ÿšฒ โš ๏ธ We recommend you to take a bike to see Vienna, but remember to stay alert at all times. We find the bike roads in the city a little bit (or maybe we should say a lot) messed up. You are probably wondering why there is a tram in the picture if we talk about bikes.... ๐Ÿš‹ Right? So it happened to us several times that a bike road in Vienna was ending up on the tram line or we were noticing that we are going the wrong way (change of traffic out of nowhere). ๐Ÿ˜• We still think that visiting Vienna is the best choice; just you need to be careful!!

๐Ÿš— Before entering Switzerland, ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ you need to buy a vignette. Without it don't even think about taking the motorways since the penalty is pricey (around 200โ‚ฌ = 237$)๐Ÿ’ฐ The sticker you can buy at the petrol stations/ post offices/ special points of sale in Austra, Czechia, Germany, or at the Swiss border. The cost is 40CHF (at the frontier, approx 35โ‚ฌ = 41$) or 40โ‚ฌ if purchased abroad. The vignette is valid for 14 months from 12/01/2016 till 01/31/2018. โžก๏ธ Map with toll roads:

How do you balance working out and being healthy while you travel?
Hey Rachel. We try our best to hit full body workout 2/3 times a week. We either find a local gym or just go for a HIIT/tabata split somewhere outside. In some cases, we work out in our room with some mixed YouTube videos. Also, we are active during the day when travelling - cycling, hiking. As for the diet part, we keep a balance between eating local food and going for healthy options. What's your secret?
