JA Manafaru, a beautiful paradise island located in the north of the Maldives, is an ideal spot for your dream beach getaway. Board an enthralling seaplane ride and watch the clear blue waters and tiny islands pass before disembarking onto the powder white sands of the luxurious resort. We stayed in one of their decadent and stunning water villas featuring modern design, enormous and luxurious bathrooms, glass windows on the floor of your living room for fish gazing, and a sunken infinity pool with complete privacy. Open up the sliding doors and have an indulgent bath while taking in the ocean views and sip on champagne while sitting in the relaxing lounge surrounded by floor to ceiling windows. If you are able to pull yourself away from you villa make sure to unwind in their five star spa, ride your bikes to explore the island, take part in their daily turtle and stingray feeding, and snorkel and discover the amazing marine life living in the clear blue waters around you. Don’t miss the abundant dining options including fresh and decadent seafood at Ocean Grill, authentic Chengdu Hot Pot at White Orchid, casual poolside dining at Infinity Bar, or international flavours at Kakuni’s Dinner Buffet. For special occasions book one of their Romantic Private Beach Dinner experiences and leave it to the talented team to set up a night to remember. Don’t miss their authentic French wine cellar with a collection any wine connoisseur would covet, and explore Maldivian flavours at one of their fun and interactive cooking classes. A true paradise with plenty to keep you busy and enough privacy if you want to relax and escape in ultimate luxury.

Gorg! Still haven't been to Maldives :(
Jumeirah Vittaveli is a stunning beach paradise located only 20 minutes from the capital Male. After a short cruise on their luxury catamaran we arrived at a welcoming and inspired five star resort situated on a white sand adorned Maldivian island. We loved the rustic meets modern design and attentive service throughout the resort. Our water villa, sat above the sparkling clear waters, was spacious and luxurious with a gigantic bed facing the ocean, decadent bathtub featuring wraparound windows, elegant lounge area with a glass bottom window, a huge sundeck alongside a refreshing plunge pool and steps straight into the ocean. Vittaveli has no shortage of activities and we highly recommend their romantic sunset cruise where you might be lucky enough to spot dolphins. There are also plenty of adventurous water sports, a submarine for gazing at the abundant house reef without having to get wet, and snorkeling instructors to help you navigate and explore all the rich and diverse marine life. If you are looking for relaxation visit their spa for tranquil treatments with fragrant coconut oil made fresh on the island. There are numerous mouthwatering dining options with the ambient and tropical MU Beach Bar & Grill perfect for fresh fish and grilled meats, relaxed all day dining at Samsara, and indulgent, delicious French feasts at Fenesse. Make sure to engage in an authentic Indian cooking class with their talented chef at Swarna, admire the fragrant traditional tandoori oven, and devour the mouthwatering result in their beautiful outdoor restaurant setting. Sample their healthy breakfast options in your villa and dine on your private deck before hitting up the well equipped gym or taking a leisurely bike ride around the beautiful island. We loved that Vittaveli offered so many activities and facilities on the islands, ensuring we always found ourselves occupied. A great option for families and groups of friends as well as couples looking for a fun and relaxing escape.

Only a short domestic flight south of Male and you’ll find yourself in a secluded and tranquil paradise. Jumeirah Dhevanafushi offers the ultimate in barefoot luxury with a small, five star island complete with style, privacy, and first class service and amenities. We stayed in their spacious and decadent beach revive villa, complete with a secluded private swimming pool, comfortable and relaxing bedroom, and enormous bathroom. Only a few steps away is the pristine, white sand beach were you can relax in some of the clearest waters we have ever see. We highly recommend snorkeling around their reefs and experiencing the abundance of sea life only a few meters out to sea. For first time snorkelers book a private lesson with their friendly team who will make you feel instantly at ease and explain the different species of marine life you spot along the way. Stroll to Azara restaurant for a relaxing beach front lunch or dinner or take a short boat ride to their water villas location and dine at the stunning Johara restaurant. Honeymooners must book an evening at the The Sunken Dig for a truly unique private dining experience under the stars, or take your family to Maldivian Night and enjoy local flavours and performances. A perfect spot for a romantic getaway of luxury, romance, and unbeatable natural beauty.

We traveled to three different resorts in the Maldives and I wanted to share with you guys more about my experience.

Transport: There are three different types of transport for getting to resorts, boat, domestic flight, and seaplane. I highly recommend seaplanes if it is in your budget. The experience is amazing in itself offering a stunning aerial view of the Maldives and the water take off and landing is definitely exciting. Domestics flights are convenient and more budget friendly for resorts that are further, and the airlines are professional and efficient. Do expect a few hours waiting time though, and very small local planes for those who are afraid of flying. Speedboat transfers are popular for resorts close to Male. This option is great for families who don't want to spend too much time getting around and if you want to save money.

Food: I really recommend trying a Maldivian cooking class during your visit and learning about their spices and use of local fish. I also loved all the Indian food. The close proximity to India means many resorts have Indian chefs who create mouthwatering dishes. The reef fish and tuna are caught by local fisherman and the freshest thing you can eat on the islands. I usually just ordered it grilled with a squeeze of lemon.

Sea life: I highly recommend snorkelling or diving with a guide and having them point out all the amazing marine life in the Maldives. You'll be so shocked by what you see each day and it's the best water quality I've seen in any beach destination. A must do when visiting.

Here's a round up of the resorts I visited:

JA Manafaru is located north of Male and has amazing new water Villas. The style is modern and luxurious with huge bathtubs, spacious bedroom and lounge, and extremely comfortable furnishings. We loved the variety of restaurants including a beach grill, casual poolside dining, an authentic French style wine cellar serving high end French cuisine, an Asian restaurant with teppanyaki and a Sichuan chef from Chengdu, and an all day dining spot where you can do Maldivian cooking classes. We saw tons of marine life including sea turtles, stingrays, and schools of tropical fish. The service is impeccable with insanely welcoming staff and waters are crystal clear.

Jumeirah Dhevanafushi is located in the south and was a very small and quiet island. It was the most beautiful we visited with fine white sand and crystal blue water. The marine life is so abundant we saw baby reef sharks swimming right along the shore. The design of the hotel is both stylish and grand with gigantic beach villas and private water Villas only accessible by boat. It takes only 10 minutes to walk around the island but limited amount of Villas means you barely see another person except during meals. I would really recommend this as a honeymoon destination as it's very secluded, serene, and relaxing. They also offer exclusive private dining options that would definitely impress for special occasions.

Jumeirah Vittaveli was the biggest resort where we stayed and it caters to big groups and families as well as romantic couples. If you want lots of facilities and activities, this is the place. You can partake in water sports, snorkelling and diving, submarine rides, deep sea fishing, or romantic sunset cruises. They have a fully equipped gym, kids club, spa, and plenty of villa options to suit your needs. There are a huge team of staff there to meet all your needs and great dining options including beach grill, French, Indian, and Asian. The proximity to Male makes the journey fuss free and it's the main resort we saw many families with small kids.

Ok here's a funny one , I love the luxury of it all but hate the snorkel and mix with fish thing . Would you still go ?
Daniel Hungry HK 8 months ago
Ian Brittain Hi Ian,

I'm with you on this one. Before going to the Maldives I had never been snorkelling and I only went snorkelling once while I was there as one of the resorts strongly suggested it. Although I can see the appeal and quite enjoyed it, it would never be my reason for traveling. The Maldives have some of the best beaches, great food, luxury accommodation, beautiful sunsets and a feeling of privacy you would find hard to match in most countries. These would be the reasons I would recommend going πŸ‘πŸ»

Of all the places you've stayed at on your current Maldives trip, which is tops?
Daniel Hungry HK 8 months ago
Jason Goldberg We had a great experience at all 3 resorts but I think Jumeirah Dhevanafushi was the best of the lot. The water was the clearest and best for snorkelling with lots of diverse ocean life. Their beach Villas were stunning and you truly felt like you were on a secluded island paradise. The food was also of a very high standard and was delicious throughout the stay. Jumeirah Vittaveli would be a better choice with those traveling with a family with children as they had great kids facilities and the resort is only a 20 minute boat ride from the airport, though the water was not as clear and as the resort was large it didn't have that private feeling. JA Manafaru had the best water Villas and the I found that the staff were the friendliest and most professional πŸ‘πŸ»

GUEST QUESTION
How did you choose where to stay in the Maldives and what are your thoughts so far?
Hi Jason!

JA Manafaru, Jumeirah Dhevanafushi and Jumeirah Vittaveli were suggested to us by colleagues. I have also stayed at Jumeirah Carlton Tower London before and loved the food and friendly service so am eager to experience their properties in the Maldives. So far the experience has been amazing. The people and staff here are some of the nicest and friendliest I've ever met and the food has been very good. It been raining a lot unfortunately.....but hoping for sunnier days ahead 😁
