The Restaurant at HOSHINOYA Tokyo offers a unique ryokan dining experience where talent and care is put into every dish, utilizing the best of Japan’s produce. We loved the serene and tranquil setting alongside personal service, and mouthwatering fresh fare. Executive Chef Hamada Noriyuki won bronze medalist at the 2013 Bocuse d’Or world chef championship, where his fish dish was rated world’s best. He seeks to create French cuisine while using Japanese craftsmanship and ingredients. Each and every dish has precise attention to detail, delicate flavours, and vibrant texture. The menu is focused on ingredients from the sea, using different techniques and display to create a one of a kind dining experience. Favourite dishes of the night included the variations of Hamo, refreshing and light Seabream served two ways, unique and surprising Five Flavours of Delights, fragrant Instant Poached Kinmedai, and indulgent Meuniere of Samegarei. We loved how every dish told a story and the chef’s passion was clear in both flavour and execution. A must try dinner when visiting Tokyo and especially when staying at HOSHINOYA.

We were excited to discover Four Seasons Tokyo’s mouthwatering farm to table, French dining establishment, MOTIF Restaurant & Bar, which utilizes fresh, local produce to create technical and delicious fare. Not only does the venue have spectacular views of the city and chic modern design, but the kitchen is led by Head Chef Hiroyuki Asano and Culinary Advisor Chef Hiroshi Nakamichi who boasts 6 Michelin Stars in the recent Michelin Guide Hokkaido 2017. We highly recommend the β€œTerroir” menu to sample the chefs signature dishes, highlights of which included fresh prawn with Tosa Vinegar, indulgent Sea Urchin with Green Peas and Bisque, crisp and fresh Seasonal Vegetables topped with a generous dose of freshly shaved truffle, decadent Whelk with Caviar and rice, and delicious Olive Fed Grilled Beef with Japanese Green Pepper. Make sure to go for the sake pairing where you will experience sake from all different regions with unique and delightful flavours that paired with the menu perfectly. We loved the relaxed and welcoming atmosphere alongside plush booth seating and friendly, professional service. An ideal spot for a romantic date night, celebratory meal with friends, or impressive business engagement.

Peter, at The Peninsula Tokyo, offers one of the most beautiful settings in the city, perfect for an intimate dining experience. We loved the dark and ambient lighting, wraparound floor to ceiling windows displaying the busy city lights below, and the spacious and modern designed dining area. Their mouthwatering menu features top quality steaks served alongside steakhouse style appetizers and sides. We highly recommend starting with their decadent Chutoro Tuna Carpaccio with Avocado, Wasabi Mayonnaise, Seaweed and Japanese Condiments. For main courses their steaks are the highlight of the menu and a definite must order. We loved the Triple Prime Cut Grilled Wagyu Tasting Plate featuring 3 different cuts of Wagyu Steak, each melt in your mouth delicious and perfectly cooked. Make sure to save room for the rich Banana and Chocolate Mousse with Avocado dessert and ask for recommended wine pairings to complete your delicious meal. Stop by the adjacent Peter bar to finish your evening with a cocktail or two and take in the luxury of the chic space. A perfect spot for celebratory dinners or an impressive date night.

Matt Smith Pretty lucky to have eaten in some amazing restaurants 😁 All the food in Tokyo is so good though. You can pretty much eat anywhere and it'll be great πŸ‘πŸ»
Pierre Gagnaire’s 2 Michelin Star restaurant, situated on the 36th floor of ANA InterContinental Tokyo, boasts an elegant and classic venue ideal for a romantic date, with private tables facing Tokyo’s beautiful city lights and a quiet and intimate ambiance with impeccable service. We sampled the β€œEsquisse Ete” menu highlights of which included a refreshing and vibrant Fillet of John Dory Poele with a mango flavoured bouillabaissem, and a flavourful Iberico flavoured pork grilled with green pepper and coconut milk. Make sure to ask the sommelier for recommended wine pairings and finish with a decadent selection of signature desserts. A beautiful spot for French fine dining at the heart of Tokyo.

Azure 45 located, in the beautiful and luxurious The Ritz-Carlton Tokyo, is the ideal spot for a decadent and impressive meal during your stay in the city. The fine dining French restaurant boasts a Michelin Star, panoramic views, impeccable service and mouthwatering fare. We loved the creative dishes using top quality local and imported ingredients. Highlights of the night included the sweet and delectable Japanese Scallops with Cream and Snap Pea, fragrant and light Summer Vegetables with Clarified Soup, delicious and decedent Scottish Blue Lobster with Mango and Pink Pepper, unique Baked Abalone Pie with Shiso and Konbu, and the tender and flavourful Roasted Sisteron Lamb with Sumac Puree. Beef in Japan is in a league of it’s own so we were very excited to visit the very popular steakhouse, The Oak Door, at Grand Hyatt Tokyo during our recent visit to Japan. Boasting a buzzing ambiance, chic open kitchen, terrace dining space and friendly service, it’s the ideal spot to enjoy a clear night in the city. The menu is full of classic steakhouse favourites using top quality ingredients. Most of what was on offer is soured from Japan and highlighted the country’s mouthwatering produce. We loved starting with the refreshing and vibrant Fruit Tomato with Organic Sweet Onion and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and their sweet, fresh Sizzling Scallops which were perfectly paired with a generous serving of herb butter. Their steaks are of course a must order and we recommend sharing a few of their signature mains including the extremely flavourful Japanese F1 Sirloin, juicy US F1 Tenderloin and fragrant Roasted Shingen Chicken with Chimichurri. The Soft Serve Ice Cream Sundae was an ideal summer treat and indulgent finish to our delicious meal. A perfect venue for fun group dinners or a date night out.

One of my favourite experiences in Tokyo was visiting the Tsukiji Fish Market. I loved seeing all the local vendors selling fresh fish, sushi and other delicacies. I stumbled upon a small shop where everyone was having this "Honmaguro Yokubari-don" using Bluefin Tuna selected that morning, carefully procured fatty tuna, medium Fatty Tuna, Lean Tuna and Backbone Meat. So fresh and delicious!

Hey Daniel Hungry HK - what tips and advice do you have for planning a visit to Tsukiji? My parents are planning a visit. Thanks!
Daniel Hungry HK 2 months ago
Jason Goldberg Hi Jason! There are lots of great things to do at Tsukiji Market. Many people want to see the famous tuna auction, but we didn't do this as you have to get there as early as 3am to claim a spot. There are only two viewing sessions around 6am and spots fill up fast.
If you plan on skipping the tuna auction, then go between 9am-11am to see the inner market where all the wholesale business happens. It is busy, and interesting and if there's a kitchen where you are staying, you can purchase items to cook at your hotel or apartment.
The outer market is open until 2pm and is where all the shops for souvenirs, dried goods, food stalls, and small restaurants are located. This is a great spot to have a fresh sushi lunch, buy gifts, and enjoy your afternoon. There are lots of options depending on what you are interested in seeing, but make sure to wear comfortable shoes and clothes as it can get crowded.
One of my favourite experiences of "Bar / Food Hopping in Tokyo was to see what "Otooshi" each place brought us when we arrived. This was my favourite. Trio of seasoned Cod Roe at a great hole in the wall with no English name unfortunately in Shinjiku

One of my favourite experiences in Tokyo was walking around late food alleys like Shinjuku Omoide Yokocho filled with tiny "hole in the walls" all cooking various skewers, seafood and other snacks. These alleys were packed with people drinking beer and enjoying food until the early hours of the morning

Hi!!!

what is the best combination of solutions to move in tokyo? day tickets? or other? we will stay seven days in tokyo city. then we will go to Kyoto, according to you should purchase the japan rail pass? we should get from Kyoto to Narita Airport. I hope I explained myself. thank you (:
Evan Lin 6 months ago
In Tokyo you can buy JR pass(750Β₯/day) or Metro pass (600Β₯/24h).Or you can buy Suica card then charge money and pay per journey.
If you only stay in Tokyo and Kyoto I don't subject to buy JR pass. It will be more expensive than buy single ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto .
Finally I don't understand what you mean from Kyoto to Narita airport which is in Tokyo
Gianluca Stanglino 6 months ago
Thank you for your answer . I think the jr pass costs the same as round-trip Tokyo Kyoto. from Kyoto I should get to the airport of Narita and I was wondering if there was a direct connection. I saw that round-trip Tokyo Kyoto costs like the jr pass. it's correct?

Have a nice day ;)
