I spent the last weekend exploring Edinburra and the Northern highlands. The cruise from Fort Augustus called the Lochness cruise might sound like a tourist trap but the views of the landscape, a stop at Glencoe and the cruise itself was surprising.

I would suggest spending a couple of days camping up there than doing day trips. The mountains around are amazing and the Glencoe trail treks are fairly easy.

The spot above is where the Lochness cruise began. It's super beautiful. Don't forget your hot chocolate with marshmallows or coffee.

One of the best co-working spaces in London. They've a napping room with stars and hammocks right within the space. Don't have to sell on the other features of the space like multiple meeting rooms, pantry, snooker table and a party lounge called the vault.

The Brixton market is pretty epic. It's a community run by locals with bars, cafes, street food stalls, a farmers market with organic free veggie produces and free range meat. You'll find stalls and stores from Europe, India, Asia, Africa, Caribbean and South America (Spot the flags).

This market also houses Honest Burgers that uses the local produce for all their food and crafted beers.

I've tried a few hostels in London, but this one is the pick! Right around Tower Hill station, you can be in Central London in no time. They've a super big bar with Ping pong, foosball and beer pong. Also one of the cleanest, with fresh towels and bed sheets everyday.

Recommended.

A unique experience right from Tamil Nadu. Cinema and their heros are celebrated like no other. Here, a cinema hall goes berserk upon the introduction scene of their favourite star.

If you're in Chennai, head to the nearest cinema hall for a full house show and you'll be stunned. This is real.

Hey Swami,
Can you please share your entire journey plan for Dharamshala ? We would love to hear your experiences😊 Thanks a bunch!!
Hey Rucha,

I spent most of my time outside Dharamshala.

1. Spend a day at Bhagsu and McLeodganj. You should explore the Bhagsu Nag falls, temple and the cafes around this area. I stayed at Hostel LaVie at Upper Bhagsu. The temple and falls are right around this area and Mcleod is a 20 min walk from here. Felt Bhagsu, Mcloed are much more happening than main Dharamshala. 9 kms away.

2. Spent a day at Kareri village - guide's home stay. The Kareri village is 20 kms away from Dharamshala. A small beautiful little place which is the base for Kareri lake trek.

3. A 13 km trek to Kareri Lake and camped there over night. A beautiful lake side camp with less people compared to Triund.

5x 21k. Durshet Forest - 2:58:56. Dreary and super humid, but a legit trail - woods, drizzle, white skies and those happy smiling faces cheering us.
That's why I love running trails. Be out there, be lost for a little while it frees my mind. It always takes where I want to go.

Culinary turns black by Zeera, Conrad. I usually enjoy a beer, good burger and don't go for such lavish dinners. Chinmayi recommended the pop-up at Conrad, it got me excited as I haven't tried anything of this sort before. I loved the spread - particularly the Truffle Kulcha, Batata Wada Bao and the main course black Rice with coconut curry and deep fried onion pakodas.

Glad I picked this one because as the pop up ends today. Burrrrrrrpppppp.

Give us one travel experience where you felt this was "one life changing" experience and will make you feel better for the rest of your life just by tapping into that memory you have now πŸ˜„
Wouldn't call this an experience but a self realisation of sorts after a few of my trips.

Travel helped me sort of figure out those things that are really essential. I've lived with 5-6 pair of clothes when traveling for a straight 25-30 days and currently redesigning my wardrobe essentials based on these learnings. Stop accumulating things you won't use on a daily basis.

The idea is someday I'll be able to move in and out of countries, cities and homes with just the basic luggage and tech.

For every trip, there is a little bit of old school preparation. Some of the best tips have come from reading through guide books and coffee tables. I spent most of the evening planning my Iceland itinerary at Crossword. It's a fun exercise :)

Here are the list of my suggestions for planning a Euro trip.
1. Lonely planet's Europe on a shoe string budget - has an extensive section for Scandinavian countries. Super comprehensive for Europe.
2. Rough guides Europe on a budget - impressed with their itineraries and local city tips.
3. Polar trek - inspiring for some northern lights photography
4. Make my day city guides - mix and match day trips planner.

Happy travels!

One place that has caught my attention recently. Five fat monks at Seasons. Their street style Kung Pao flat noodles is just too good and completely customisable.

Here is my fav combo
Base - Flat noodles
Protein - Eggs
Veggies - Onions, carrot and Mushrooms
Garnishes - fried onions, peanuts and garlic
Sauce - Kung Pao.

Looks awesome, what's the reason behind "less preferred"
Swaminathan Jayaraman 5 months ago
Yuvaraj BH less preferred because of the easier and more accessible treks like Triund.

The Kareri village is 20 kms away from Dharamshala. The trek begins here and is still 13 kms away.
I got mugged at Delhi ISBT Metro by a couple of guys and lost my phone. Had to choose between pushing forward or returning back as everything from bus ticket to hostel booking was on the phone.

I decided to board the bus and silently sat in an empty seat which I realised was the seat I had booked. The co-passenger was kind enough to help me with finding tickets and hostel bookings and took a pic on my digi cam.

Glad I pushed through. The stroll through woods, climbing mountains, crossing and taking a dip in the flowing rivers - nothing can match the tranquil found in the mountains.

In the end, I won't remember being without a phone.
