Well you know to be fair, as a critic you're so used to ahmazzziinnng food even when simple that when you get something that's so experimental it leaves you wondering. Plus the article is doing Well because of the shock and awe effect. His writing is witty and sounds like he had more fun writing than eating. In general though I don't trust critics, local foodies will tell it plain and simple too 🙌😊😍

I agree at the high level Yanique Francis -- at the same time I also think he has a point in that simple good food has surpassed fussy as the new new. Give me a great bistro or small farm to table any day over a fuss.

Yay! So happy for you!
The new World's 50 Best Restaurant's list for 2017 was released today and 11 Madison Park in New York dethroned Italy's Osteria Francescana for the #1 spot.

We went to 11 Madison twice over the years for dinner and ate twice at the bar -- and it is truly awesome.

Pro tip: few people know this but you can eat at the bar with no reservations! Limited menu but many of the same items as the main dining room menu.

#23 on the list: Gaggan in Bangkok.

I've consider going here a couple of times but then I always ask myself: "do I really want to eat Indian food in Bangkok?" And then revert back to Thai food in Thailand.

Anyone here been to Gaggan?

I went here about two years ago. The food is fantastic without a doubt. I think I like it when the chef is creative and has a distinct point of view. I felt that here, perhaps they were too eager to please. "If you have any food you dislike then we will give you something else..." I hate green peas and mustard. But I like it when really good chefs give me their versions of these ingredients. There have been rare occasions when I have enjoyed both peas and mustard though I can count them on one hand. I like that. That the chef can surprise me. Here there were no surprises of any kind.

#29 Tickets in Barcelona - Been several times. Definitely one of the best in Barcelona. Great experience overall. A bit too hyped and busy after it made the list. Innovative tapas dishes, amazing desserts for which you are lead to a separate room. Friendly staff. From the same owner group there is "1900" across the street. Easier to get a table and worth a visit!

There is absolutely no such thing as the 'best' restaurant/s in the world. It's just too subjective a question to say really. Each to their own, and we all have our favourites.
